In this master class, an application is rather a way to preserve the decor from rhinestones and transfer it to a new product.
On the dress on the left side of the owl's eyes were decorated with rhinestones.
When the dress was remade in a nightgown, the owl remained outside the pattern. Therefore, I decided to save it with the help of an application - cut out the owl motif and transfer it to the nightgown.
Silk alteration: how to alter a dress in a nightgown
It is not easy to make an application on silk; the whole point is the delicacy and mobility of the fabric. To make you happy with the result, you must use any stabilizer for embroidery. But best of all, a water-soluble stabilizer for embroidery on thin fabrics will cope with this task. It is easy to remove from the surface of the fabric. And those particles that remain under the threads, in this case inside the zigzag line, will disappear after the first wash.
You will need:
✂ Fabric stabilizer;
✂ Tailor pins for delicate fabrics;
✂ Scissors for silk;
✂ Sewing threads

Step 1
Cut out the motif of the applique.
Step 2
Locate the application on the front of the product.
Pin the applique motif to this place.
Step 3
Cut the stabilizer to a size suitable for the motif of the appliqué.
Step 4
Disconnect the stabilizer.
Step 5
Turn the product and fix the stabilizer on the wrong side of the fabric in the application area.
To make it easy to do this, attach the decorated surface, for example, to the window - the location of the application will be clearly visible in the lumen, then you will definitely not be mistaken with the place where the stabilizer is fixed on the fabric.
Step 6
Set the machine on a zigzag line so that you end up with a narrow and fairly dense line. First try on the shred to set the settings correctly.

Set the foot for satin stitches. It is transparent, therefore it is more convenient to work with it.

Scribble applique.
Do not rush, especially in uneven areas.
Make sure that the needle exactly lands on the left - into the applique and the fabric, on the right - into the fabric right next to the edge of the cut of the appliqué.
If necessary, change the position of the pins in the fabric, which fix the motive on the surface so that the appliqué does not move and bubbles do not form.
Step 9
Carefully remove the stabilizer from the wrong side.
Hide the threads inside the stitches.
