Sequins - sparkling, iridescent, eye-catching! You need to wear them wisely and with caution, and New Year's Eve is the right time for that.
Photo: Anthropologie (3)Today, sequins, once associated only with the festive atmosphere, have leaked into everyday fashion, but the distinction between everyday life and the holiday has remained quite clear - only insignificant intersperses of sequins are acceptable in the everyday look.
As for the festive look, it’s difficult to overdo it - a dense coating of shiny scales will luxuriously shimmer in the electric light of the party, and all you need to do is arrange your dress correctly.
1. Sequins - decoration in themselves
Photo: ASOS (3)The first rule, which will help you competently present your outfit, says that sequins do not need additional embellishments, since they themselves bring in quite a sufficient amount of gloss. This does not mean that you cannot complement the shining dress with the same shining earrings - you can! But it will be necessary to dwell on this: not a single detail of your outfit should draw attention to itself anymore. And the clutch, and shoes, and the cloak, whatever it may be, should remain neutral, and it is better to refuse bracelets and rings altogether.

But do not forget that a lot depends on the chosen style - for example, an evening dress on the floor is strapless and asks for a luxurious necklace!
2. Give up folds and quilling

Sequins, no matter how paradoxical this may sound, love minimalism. That is why in shops and fashion magazines you can find such a huge number of simple mini-dresses in their cut, the main and only accent of which is the sparkle of sequins and the pattern formed by them.

Do not “reinvent the wheel”: it is better to leave a complicated cut for other materials and prefer simplicity to tricky draperies and ruffles.
3. Sequins, alas, get fat

Consider this aspect when choosing a dress. If you are unsatisfied with your figure, it might be better to opt for dresses in which sequins are used only on individual details - for example, on the bodice.
4. Color + texture

Whatever your dress, the format of the New Year's party, alas, implies that you need something that will not let you freeze on New Year's Eve in your wonderful sparkling dress.

The ideal option is a combination of different textures. Of course, you can complement your dress with a simple discreet cardigan, but it has been tested empirically, the following materials most effectively combine with sequins in a festive look: velvet, leather and feathers. Yes, these are very, very risky combinations, so in no case do not add a play of colors to this complex equation! Only the balance of color and texture will save you from the defiant effect.

For those who prefer more modest options, there is the opposite way - add sequins to the smoothest matte textures, against which they will appear even brighter.
