The winner of the Burda Fashion Start contest, the author of the collection “The Wind Under the Pilgrim's Wing”, told about where she draws inspiration from, what the Russian fashion lacks, and shared her creative plans.
I was inspired by the early Middle Ages. The time when one era replaced another, when new ideas swept and inspired. I wanted to convey the feeling of a fairy tale in absolutely practical things that you can wear every day and feel comfortable.
Why did you decide to take part in the Burda Fashion Start contest?
I learned about the contest very on time. I was going to sew a collection, and the competition helped me to become more active and added motivation.
What was the most difficult to work on the collection?
I had no difficulty creating the collection. I really liked everything. Only at the very end, when the deadlines were already running out, was it difficult. I did not have enough time to refine the subtleties.
When creating collections, what fabrics do you usually use?
I do not often create collections, I usually work with individual orders. In my work I try to use fabrics that contain no synthetic fibers, ideally, locally produced. But such fabrics are still rare. I just use the most natural fabrics.
What three words would you describe your style? Why?
Natural, free, simple. It is important for me that the clothes do not scream, but lead a quiet conversation with the surroundings, so that the clothes inside are warm, cozy and comfortable, and a little fabulous. That things served for a very long time, while remaining loved.
What are the fashion designers who influenced your work?
These are more likely not fashion designers, but simply people. I follow what is happening on the streets of different cities around the world. I’m more interested in street style, how people dress in the natural environment, and not in the light of spotlights. If you still call the brand, then Valentino.
What are the three most popular trends for the fall-winter season 2016/2017
It seems to me that fashion has now entered a calmer course. She screamed, freaked out and slowed down. Soft forms, calm colors, natural textures became relevant. My favorites: long coats, capes, wide-legged high-waisted trousers, rethought types of clothing from other eras.
Several images from the sewn collection included patterns from Burda. Choosing them, you probably could appreciate our extensive catalog of patterns! What three things from the catalog could you recommend to our readers as the most stylish and fashionable for the fall-winter 2016 season?
Firstly, a lapel cape 8/2014. Despite the fact that the 2014 model, it is very relevant. Secondly, coat 103 10/2015, it is large and comfortable, if you sew it from a loose, slightly shaggy fabric, then, in my opinion, it will be a hit. And thirdly pants 112 10/2016. They are perfectly equipped with turtlenecks, shirts, sweaters, capes and voluminous coats.

What, in your opinion, is lacking in Russian fashion today?
Russian fashion now lacks infrastructure, platforms for communication between different segments of the fashion industry.
What is your most ambitious creative goal?
I want to develop an ethical fashion that involves a rational, socially responsible and environmentally friendly approach to creating clothes.
The fashionable Geppener Studio hosted a large-scale photo shoot as part of a unique competition for young designers Burda Fashion Start. Each of the designers presented his capsule collection of three images.
In the creation of more than 30 creative images for photography took part:
